About AVTPS
A Collaborative Countermeasure Against Modern Vehicle Crimes
In today’s rapidly evolving vehicle technologies and the continual attack by those committing vehicle crimes, the AVTPS is a countermeasure that can be applied to the situation. To start, we will create a central “voice” where a united working group, with all stakeholders, can directly partake in the collective interest to fight auto crimes. By acting as a neutral authority, this organization will further innovation, ethical conduct, and provide a collective input from all stakeholders in the ongoing development of an ever-moving target of a secure vehicle.
AVTPS will fill the current void of a lack of oversight and serve as the pillar supporting the application of standards in the automotive sector. We will support professional development, be an advocate for standards adoption, and provide a commitment to excellence and ethical practices necessary for consumer confidence.
We are a professional voice that can bring clarity and accuracy to some of the assumptions and misconceptions surrounding theft prevention solutions that are currently available. We will provide direct, unbiased communication and collective responses as needed to industry stakeholders, educating and promoting proven solutions that have met standards. A significant portion of our ongoing activities will be to educate, promote, and share the benefits that have been seen globally when standards are applied to theft issues and vehicle crimes.
We also provide a central database, as required, for quality assurance, accountability, product warranty, or support in the event of a theft attack. We will provide the public with a central help link regardless of vehicle ownership, as vehicles have multiple owners, who are in ever-changing locations.
AVTPS Objectives:
Fulfilling the need for a neutral organization to promote the adoption of security solutions that have met an industry safety standard, to government, insurance companies, industry stakeholders, and the public that is most affected by this crime.
Providing a Membership vetted, with strict qualifications for technicians, facilities, and manufacturers, providing clear expectations of professional behavior and workmanship.
Central Registry, fulfilling the UL S338 Edition 3 standard requirement of a database of the fitted approved product installations for accountability, warranty support, and data sharing with both the public and law enforcement.
Data-driven, harnessing of the industry data metrics for the development of effectiveness, and corrective actions for continuous improvement.
Exclusive UL-approved Solutions, bringing a credible and trusted solution for the public, insurers, OEM manufacturers, and the government.
Industry Feedback Voice, to address any challenges that may arise with the technology or solutions through stakeholders’ liaison on the Steering Committee.
Countermeasure for the ever-adapting criminal elements with industry experts and security specialists.
Mission: To provide to the automotive industry and all stakeholders concerned about theft prevention, investigation, and road safety, a professional organization. This professional collective’s voice will work with the ever-adapting criminal elements and those looking to prevent or investigate these vehicle crimes.
The Difference: An AVTPS membership will make it possible to distinguish between products that have met a Standard and are fitted to documented expectations, versus unknown products/security modification fitment solutions that do not have oversight for accountability or quality expectations.
Activity: Excellence and effectiveness driven by membership and an industry stakeholder’s member-driven Steering Committee, ensuring a continuous adaptive response to the dynamic fight against criminals and criminal enterprises.
Professional Association: To provide a professional organization for automotive theft prevention/investigation through UL-approved products, certified professionals, and centralized data access for law enforcement, insurers, and consumers.
Vision: A future where discovered vehicle theft risk vulnerabilities are measurably reduced through universal adoption of vetted security products and professionally documented installations.
Core Values: Safety, Trust, Professionalism, Compliance, Transparency. This organization will support and maintain the highest industry standards for safe and effective aftermarket security modifications.
Public Support: Vehicles have multiple owners and are operated across multiple locations. Placing a Label on the B Pillar that has a link to our registration system means we can link every vehicle with a specific product, batch, and Installation Facility/Installer that has completed the modification. This knowledge creates the ability to have accountability, troubleshooting, and future owner support for the vehicle that has been modified in the event of a theft attempt or product technical support issue.
